Hurling
The Under 16 hurlers defeated a much fancied Gorey team in Enniscorthy recently to qualify for the South Leinster Colleges B Semi Final. The first half began with two pointed frees from Shay Dempsey and a converted 65’ from Damien Ahern. The second half was much more open and we were on top from the start. Shay gathered a long ball sent in from the midfield and even though he was brought to the ground he still managed to flick it into the net. A minute later he struck another one from twenty yards and rattled the net again. Gorey began to fade towards the end and a Mark Russell sideline ball put the game out of their reach.
Best on the day were Jamie Diggins, Ian Ahern and Damien (0-4) in defence and Shay (2-3), Mark (0-2) and Jason Grant up front.
Our search for the provincial title were defeated at Nolan Park by a determined Johnstown team despite being level at half time 2-3 to 1-6.
