operation-Xmas-ChildOperation Christmas Child

The Justice Group organised a very successful Operation Christmas Child Appeal this year. The Justice Group worked diligently to make the appeal such a success. They collected the boxes every morning from students and checked them each lunch time. There was a great atmosphere of hope which surrounded the appeal. Reaching out to children around the world really appealed to the students and they are already making plans to improve the appeal for next year.

Science Quiz

The regional ISTA Science Quiz for sixth years took place in WIT on Thurs night 12 November. Congratulations to Ciara Kiely, Maria Heffernan and Roseanne Kennedy who finished 3rd out of twenty five teams and who have now qualified for the finals in Dublin in Trinity College. The schools second team of Peter Shanahan, Shauna Kenneally and Joaana O ‘Brien just missed out on a place in the finals. Well done to all!

Rememberence Service

In November we pray for and remember our loved ones who have passed away. This year we have taken the theme ‘Seasons’ as we reflect on life and death in terms of the cycle of life. The Prayer Room is open at lunch time for students for private prayer and on Friday we will have a Remembrance Service led by Fr. Ray Dempsey and Dean Trevor Lester.

 Visit from Bishop Burrows

On Thursday last the Student Council and the Justice Group met with Bishop Burrows for an informal chat and discussion. The students were very interested in hearing about the Bishop’s innovative and creative fundraising ideas. The students were very interested in the life of the bishop and were impressed with his direct answers to their many questions.
