For the second time in a few months the Mercy is mourning the death of a former principal.  Sr Redemptoris Cummins, who was principal from 1968 to 1977, died on January 8. She lived a very long life, having been born in 1911. Sr Redemptoris entered the Mercy Order in 1933, after graduating from university. Her former students and colleagues remember a person who had a visionary and holistic educational philosophy. Sr Redemptoris had a special love of music and was a gifted pianist. Current students of the Mercy were present at her funeral mass, in recognition of the contribution of this remarkable woman to education in Waterford. May she rest in peace.
