Innovative Students Launch Donor Discussion Day
A group of Transition Year Students from Newtown School, Waterford, are launching an organ “Donor Discussion Day” on 10th March 2011. This is the culmination of months of work for these inspiring young students, who have discovered that while 90% of people support organ donation, only 30% have an organ donor card. The students hope to get across the significance of not just carrying a donor card, but also the importance of discussing your wishes with your next of kin. They are highlighting the fact that kidney, liver, heart, lung, and pancreas transplants save lives and make dramatic improvements in lifestyle and wellbeing for recipients.
