Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School held its annual Prize Night recently. The purpose of the night is to celebrate and acknowledge publicly the many achievements, (academic, sporting, cultural etc.) of the students of this school. Students, who by the excellence of their behaviour and positive attitude contribute so much to their individual classes and to the life of the school in general, are also presented with awards on the night. The special guest speaker was Mr Eamonn McEneaney director of Waterford Museum of Treasures.
Mr McEneaney delivered an interesting and inspiring speech to the students and their proud parents on the night. He spoke about the new and exciting plans for the future development of Waterford city. He also encouraged the students to be optimistic about the future despite all the depressing talk about the economy. He had great praise for the school and its ethos and he congratulated all those students who received their well deserved awards.
The principal, Mr Broderick, also delivered a speech praising and congratulating the students on their achievements. He welcomed parents and invited them to enjoy this special moment in their daughters’ lives.
