Health and Well-Being Week at Presentation Secondary School

It’s all about eating well and feeling well in the Presentation Secondary school this week Monday the 11th October to Friday 15th October. Lots of activities have been arranged for students, parents and teachers with the emphasis on physical, spiritual and mental well-being.

Some of the activities planned for the week include the Drop Everything and Walk initiative which involves each year group going for a walk with their teachers for one class period.

The importance of the food which we eat cannot be overstated, eat well, feel well. Some of the Healthy Eating activities include a Childline Cheerios Breakfast for 1st and 2nd year classes. All monies raised will go to Childline.

All Home Economics Cookery classes have been planned with healthy eating in mind. Dishes include fruit smoothies, fruit salad, wholesome muffins, brown bread etc.

Healthy lunch options will be subsidised by the school during Well-Being week and a number of our suppliers have kindly offered a supply of fruit.

To help improve our physical fitness, students will have an introductory class to Aerobics also lunchtime Yoga and Hip-Hop sessions are open to all. There is a teacher’s versus students Basketball match organised for lunchtime on Tuesday. Parents are invited to a Salsa class on Wednesday 13th form 10.30 a.m. – 11.30 a.m., please come along and join in the fun.

On Thursday 14th we are having a W.O.T. Walk on Thursday. All staff and students are encouraged to walk to school if at all possible.

The Pharmacy in Waterford Health Park have kindly sponsored Hearing Tests for some of our 6th year students.
