St Declan’s
Green Schools
On Thursday 25th February 30 second year students took part in a safer cycling day in the school. This initiative was part of our efforts to attain our fourth Green Flag, the theme of which is Travel.
“Safer Cycling” from Limerick provided bicycles and helmets for the students and spent the day teaching students how to cycle safely. The day was partly funded by An Taisce and the students involved said it was an enjoyable and informative day.
In recent weeks “An Taisce” has also funded a new cycle park for the school and we are very grateful to Yvonne Kelly and An Taisce for this. The aim of the Travel theme is to encourage students to walk or cycle to school if possible and to ask parents and teachers to consider car pooling. In this way not only are we helping the environment but we are also promoting the value of exercise amongst the school community.
