St Paul’s end of year celebrations
On Thursday last the Third Years had a great day out in Woodstown with their Year Head and Class Tutors. The weather was perfect for the students who played games on the beach, while others went fishing and some just enjoyed a stroll on the sand. All had worked up hearty appetites by lunchtime and were ready for the delicious barbeque which was prepared for them by the teachers. It was a very enjoyable day for all and a nice break for the students from their exam preparation. We wish them all the best in their Junior Cert next week.
Transition Year Celebration
On Tuesday, June 1st our Transition Year students celebrated the end of a busy and successful year. Students, parents and invited guests were welcomed by Year Head Ms. Mai O’Keeffe, who delivered the opening address before handing over to Transition Year Co-ordinator, Ms. Michelle Browne, who was a very capable MC for the remainder of the evening.
Representatives of various agencies and organizations who had worked with the TY students addressed the audience, these included speakers from Junior Achievement Ireland, Stonehaven Equestrian Centre, Waterford Civic Trust, Oceanic Surf School, MOD Car Safety Workshop, Premier First Aid, Failte Ireland, Fai, Special Olympic Soccer and Gaisce. It was very gratifying for all present to hear how highly these guests spoke of our Ty students. Two of the students themselves addressed the audience; Aaron Joy spoke on behalf of the Year Group, while Eoin Sheridan reflected on the successful Formula One Competition. After a wonderful medly of music, performed by Roisin Hogan and Danny O’Neill, the students received their certificates of participation and achievement and thirty three of them were presented with their Bronze Medals for Gaisce, the Presidents Award by Mr. Stephen Peers.
First And Second Year Treat Day
On Thursday last all our First and Second Years, along with their parents, enjoyed a great afternoon in the school grounds. As a treat for all their hard work and good behavior the First and Second Year Heads , together with our hardworking Parents Council, organised an afternoon of fun for the students, with various sporting activities and races followed by a fabulous barbeque. It was a glorious sunny afternoon and all enjoyed the fun, games and lovely food. Many thanks to all involved.
