Hurling
Last week Tramore CBS recorded a superb victory over Blackwater College in the final of the U15 ½ Waterford Schools Hurling championship. The lovely location of Fraher Field and the ideal summer conditions combined to produce a high standard of skilful hurling from both teams. The early dominance of Tramore did not produce the scores they deserved but when Shane McNulty found his range they led at half time by ten points. With the aid of the wind in the second half Blackwater rallied but the character and spirit of this Tramore CBS became evident as they increased the tempo to carve out a notable win and become county schools champion for 2010. Although this was a complete team performance there were exceptional individual displays from Conor Rockett, Barry Whelan, John Hutchinson, Matthew Thompson, Brian Murray and of course Shane McNulty who scored 3.8. Others to work hard were Jason O Shea, Sean Colfer, Sam Lenihan, Adam Dunne, Cathal Dower and Geoff McCarthy who was most reliable in goal. Ann Hogan presented to the captain, Shane McNulty, who thanked Mr. Kenny and Mr. Williams for their work with the team and praised Blackwater College for a fine sporting match. This is the team that will take part in the U 16 ½ Munster championship next year and as there were 5 injured players missing there will be intense competition for places so all must make a big effort in training in September.
