Club Silver in Roscommon

St Senans athletes made the long trip to Boyle Co Roscommon for the AAI ‘B’ cross country championships and also the rerun of the U/13 boys and U/15 girls races. The club had eight runners in the U/11 girls race and there were good performances from Katie Murphy,Eve Lacey, Annemarie Moloney, Megan Phelan,Sinead McEvoy,Grace Blanchfield,Kathleeen Croke and Cliodhna Murphy. The Kilkenny team placed 4th overall with a fine run by Chloe Richardson of St Josephs who was 7th. St Senans scorers on the team were Katie, Eve, Annemarie and Sinead. In the girls U/13 race Hannah Irish, Michelle McDonald, Tara Lacey, Clare McEvoy, Sarah Phelan and Sarah Butler all won medals with the first three also scoring on the Kilkenny team that won gold, while the club took silver. The girls U/15 race Aoife Bowe, Rachel Butler and Gemma Aylward all ran well, while the Thomastown team put in a great show to take silver medals, with Megan Morrissey winning individual bronze. In the boys U/13 race there were fine runs by Eoghan Wallis, Gerard Wallis, Stephen Greene, Jonathan Crowley and David Irish, with the first three scoring on Kilkenny team, they just missed out on medals in 4th. There were great runs too by Sean and James Power of Thomastown, Paul Manning of St Josephs and Cormac Buggy of Gowran. Oliver Mullally had a great leg in the U/14 intercounty relay squad that won bronze.
