East Munster Schools Championships
Athletes from Waterford Schools scored many successes at the East Munster Secondary Schools Track & Field Championships at the RSC on Wednesday week last.
Doubles were recorded by Dayle Kennedy, Abbey CC in the senior Shot Putt and Discus, Shane Quinn in the 800 and 1500 metres, Thomas Barr in the 400 Hurdles and High jump (both De La Salle in intermediate grade), and Tom Whelan, Abbey, in the junior Shot Putt and Discus.
Other winners were: (Minor) 100M – Meshak Babatu, CBS Tramore; 800M – Robbie Mulligan, St Augustine’s; Shot Putt – Patrick Crowther, do; Relay – St Augustine’s; (Junior) 100M – Colin Dunford, CBS Dungarvan; 80M Hurdles – Luke Sheehan, St Augustine’s; Javelin Peter Anseln, do; Hammer – Justin Campbell, do; Long Jump – Andrew Walsh, Newtown School; (Intermediate) 100M – Clive Kennington, Newtown School ; 1 Mile – Alan Ryan, Abbey; 2000M Walk – Joe Conway, St Augustine’s; Hammer – Ross Dunford, do; Triple Jump – Diego Pelliteno, do; Relay – St Augustine’s; (Senior) 100M – Shane Hickey, CBS Dungarvan; 200M – Billy Ryan, De La Salle; High Jump – Theo Wallace, do; 2000M S/Chase – Daniel McCarthy, St Augustine’s; 3000M – Conor Rochford, Abbey; 110M Hurdles – Thomas Houlihan, St Augustine’s; Relay – De La Salle.
There were also wins by Keith Smith, Comeragh College, in the Senior Long and Triple Jumps; Daragh Kervick, do, in the Senior 400 Metres; James Greene, do, in the Intermediate 400M; Gary Cantwell, do, in the Intermediate Steeple Chase, and by Shane O’Dwyer, CBS Carrick-on-Suir, in the Intermediate 200 metres. St Augustine’s College, Abbeyside, won all four cups: Minor, Junior, Intermediate and Senior.
