Mercy Waterford enjoyed an excellent series of results last week when both the u19 and u16 teams qualified for the all-Ireland cup quarter finals.
After a close encounter with Mercy Mounthawk, Mercy Waterford’s U19’s turned in an excellent fourth quarter performance in Tralee to defeat the home side by 11 points (43- 52).
The Waterford side held a slender two points lead (34-32) at the half time break and with the game very much up for grabs the third quarter was equally tight. Aisling Madigan, Shauna Fitzgerald and Ciara Jackman kept the visitors ahead but defensive lapses let the Tralee side in for some easy scores.
At the start of the fourth quarter Waterford switched to Zone Press and Sarah Lyons and Emily Wadding were able to set up scoring opportunities for Aisling Madigan who finished the game with an excellent 35 points.
