Jenny Coady made an emotional return to the court she has graced so many times as her Presentation Waterford team took on Portmarnock CS in the Basketball Girls Under-16C Schools Cup Final at the National Arena in Tallaght last Tuesday afternoon.
Portmarnock took the game to Waterford at a very early stage with Megan Connolly scoring off a dribble in the Dubliners’ first drive.
Adrianna Alverez, one of the two sisters on Portmarnock’s team, doubled her side’s advantage before Dawn O’Sullivan converted two from the line to open the Presentation’s account.
However, some good rebounding from Ciara Clarke was to see Portmarnock back in the ascendancy and after converting one of her free throws, she then dropped a two-pointer from the wing to open up a five-point lead for the Fingal girls.
