The DBC is a popular and thriving badminton club and as such a valuable sporting amenity in the area. So let’s take a look at its history and development over the years. While happily situated at the Brasscock on the Dunmore Road since the early 80’s it owes its name to its origins in Dunmore East itself where the present badminton club was formed in 1953 where it was based in the Fisherman’s Hall. It first played competitively in the 1955/56 season meeting with notable success winning a County Championship for the first time with Teresa Power and Abbie McNamara winning the Junior Ladies Doubles.
