Ballinacourty coasted into the semi finals of this year’s Lawlors Hotel County Senior Football semi finals after they recorded a 12-point win over Ardmore at Fraher Field on Saturday last.

The first half proved to be an even enough contest at the end of which Ballinacourty held a 1-7 to 0-5 lead.

Ballinacourty’s first half goal came midway through the opening quarter when the impressive Mark Ferncombe, not for the first time this year, rattled the net after been sent through by Sean O’Hare.

Mark Fives opened the scoring with a pointed free in the first minute, while Ardmore responded with a brace of points from Alan North before Mark Ferncombe hit back with a hat trick of scores including his goal on nine minutes.

Mark Fives further stretched Ballinacourty’s lead before a brace of scores from Wayne and Richie Hennessy followed to leave just Ferncombe’s goal between the sides.

Ferncombe and Alan North swapped scores inside two minutes of each other in the last five minutes of the opening half before John Gorman and Mark Ferncombe hit scores to give Ballinacourty a five point lead at the break.
