Kilrossanty 1-8; An Rinn 0-11

Kilrossanty, after fighting relegation last year, have won a place in the quarter-finals of the 2009 senior football championship by virtue of avoiding defeat at Cappoquin last Saturday afternoon.

An Rinn on the other hand will now have to scrap for their lives in both hurling and football to retain their senior status over the coming weeks.

The Comeragh men got off to a dream start when they scored twice inside the opening minute. Colin Dee had the ball over the bar within 18 seconds, and just 32 seconds later Joey Veale had a second Kilrossanty point registered on the scoreboard.

An Rinn responded with points from a Padraig Ó Murchadha free in the sixth minute and on the quarter-hour mark when Ferdia Ó hAodha pointed from play.

Between the 19th and 24th minutes Kilrossanty hit a purple patch. Brian Mansfield pointed with 11 minutes of the half to go and this was followed by a Joey Veale goal nine minutes before the break.
