Eastern Primary Schools Boys’ U10 Football D: Kilrossanty kids win classic

Kilrossanty 5-4; Newtown 3-2
The opening minutes of this game showed all signs of this being our first closely contested final of the evening, and it did not disappoint. The ball became stagnant around midfield but this was due mainly to both teams fighting tooth and nail for every ball. If either team can take their scores when they are on, it could make the world of difference to these evenly matched teams. When the first half ended there was only a goal between the sides making the anticipation for the second half very exciting for all involved.
Kilrossanty made great use of nature and within 5 minutes they had come back to within a point of Newtown. Kilrossanty found the net twice in quick succession taking over the lead for the first time. Newtown continued to battle and as the opening few minutes proved this had certainly become a nailbiting final.
Kilrossanty had found their feet and with everything in their favour they pressed forward leaving nothing to chance. Newtown came back again scoring two of their own goals in quick succession and if time had allowed perhaps they could have kept going. But time was not in Newtown’s favour and Kilrossanty were victors to this epic final on a scoreline of Kilrossanty 5-4 Newtown 3-2.
