Rathgormack GAA Club launched their book called ‘The Spirit of Rathgormack’ recalling the history of football in the club from 1884-2009 at a very enjoyable evening in the local Community Centre on Saturday last, February 27th.
To coincide with the launch, Rathgormack also presented the various teams in the club that were successful in last year’s Waterford county championships with their medals and trophies.
Indeed, it was a great year for the club, said Jimmy O’Gorman, who was guest of honour at one of his last official functions as Munster Council chairman.
He congratulated the Club on the book launch and said it was a really great publication and a fitting tribute to all involved with Rathgormack GAA, both past and present.
He went on to say that they were a really strong club at the moment but their contribution to Waterford GAA and the various county teams over the decades was a great testament to the various officers and committees during that time.
At the outset, Rathgormack chairman Noel Kirwan thanked all the guests and the community for attending and said that the book was a great read, not alone for Rathgormack folk but for GAA people in general.
He hoped that all the community would rally round the club for the coming year and that 2010 would be as successful as ’09.
The various teams that won titles during the year were then invited up on stage to be presented with their medals. During 2009 Rathgormack GAA won the Under-12 Football Eastern Final, the U14 Football Eastern and County titles, the U16 Football County Championship, and the Junior Football Eastern Championship.
