Stephen Hunt signs for Club Déise

Ireland midfielder Stephen Hunt has shown his support for Waterford, signing up for Club Déise, the Official Waterford GAA Supporters’ Club.

Stephen is often seen at matches supporting the county teams – including last Saturday week’s qualifier against Antrim – and was a talented hurler himself before he left Clonea Power to go to England to start his career as a trainee with Crystal Palace. Indeed, he represented Waterford in the Tony Forristal Cup and at Under 16 level.

Stephen now plays with Reading and was voted by Royals’ supporters as the club’s official player of the year for the 2007/’08 season. A bid of £5 million for him from Roy Keane’s Sunderland was rejected by Reading in January.

Membership application forms for Club Déise are now available at Ken McGrath’s Sport, Harvey Travel in Waterford, and Ger Wyley’s Sport, David Walsh’s Office Supplies and Albert McGrath’s Newsagents in Dungarvan. You may also apply online at clubdeise.com or see link on www.munster-express.ie/sport.

All applications received on or before July 30 will be eligible for a draw for the first Waterford jersey signed by Davy Fitzgerald and the whole Waterford panel – a real collector’s item.
