In the other quarter-finals last Thursday, Davy Fitz’s Limerick IT beat UCD by 1-15 to 2-9 on Shannonside (with Galway’s Joe Canning hitting 1-9), while NUI Galway hammered St Patrick’s Mater Dei of Dangan.
All this means that Fitzgerald – who got the better of Bonner’s men when they met in Limerick earlier in the competition – could well be plotting against one or more of his own Waterford players depending on which two sides make Saturday’s Fitzgibbon Cup final.
