Ballygunner are the county senior hurling champions for 2009 thanks to victory by a solitary point over a gallant Lismore side at Walsh Park last Saturday evening. It was like a game of Russian roulette as both sides went point for point. In the end, it was a pity that there had to be a loser for such was the quality of the fare on show that every member of the 5,000-strong crowd would surely have enjoyed extra time.

Last week it was two veterans for the Gunners who saved the day when Paul Flynn and Fergal Hartley put in top-class performances to earn a second chance for their team. This time another former Waterford campaigner Andy Moloney who stood up and was counted when the chips were down. Moloney scored five points from play and in such a close game these were always going to be crucial.
