Waterford took on Offaly last Saturday in the first round of the All-Ireland championship at Lusmagh in front of a large home crowd.

The Deise girls got off to a flying start and had the home side on the back-foot for most of the first half. Having played with the wind in the first half the half time score was 1-4 to 1-1 in favour of Waterford.

The second half began with Offaly applying a lot of pressure around mid-field and the Waterford girls had to be at their best in defence to prevent clear scoring chances.

Waterford showed some brilliant individual skills to keep the Offaly girls at bay. When the final whistle blew the visitors knew they had been in a hard battle and had come out victorious on a scoreline of 2-6 to 1-4.

This is a fantastic start for the Waterford girls in their quest to reach the All-Ireland final for a second year in succession. Their next game is against Laois at a Waterford venue on 3rd. April.
