Sacred Heart 0-11; Mt Sion 1-4

The Eastern Final of the U15 Hurling Championship took place in miserable conditions at Cleaboy on Bank Holiday Monday between Sacred Heart and Mount Sion. This keen city rivalary was pretty evident from the throw-in with both teams hugely determined to win.

The game was really exciting even in the very tough conditions that prevailed but it was Sacred Heart who had the better of things from the start and some excellent points from there captain and chief scorer Darragh Flynn settled them into a winning groove.

Mount Sion refused to give in, however, and excellent work from their forwards got them back into the game.

Sacred Heart were ahead at half-time but only by the narrowest of margins but on the re-start forged into a three-point lead.

Mount Sion did their best to narrow the gap, which they did, but two more excellent Darragh Flynn points sealed the result for Sacred Heart who ended up 0-11 to 1-4 winners.

Darragh in fact scored 10 of the 11 points scored by Sacred Heart and he was definitely man-of-the-match.
