Flannery appointment
Carrick Swan club welcomes the announcement that Brian Flannery will take up the position of senior hurling team coach for 2009. Brian has vast playing experience at under age and senior level with Tipperary and Waterford, and with the Mount Sion club. We welcome Brian on board wishing him the best of luck and we look forward to all in our club supporting him in his new role. Management and selection committees for all teams will be announced over the coming fortnight.
Juveniles
Juvenile programme for 2009 is being planned at present and indoor training schedules will be announced soon. New players are welcome and parents should contact juvenile committee member for any information required. All our teams are coached by experienced personnel with the emphasis on enjoyment and participation for all the boys and girls. We cater for children from 6 to 16 years of age so if you are not already part of our club come along now. We remind past players, parents and supporters that we would welcome their help and participation at juvenile level where the large number of players require constant care and attention.
Awards
The supporter’s club celebration and awards night which took place on new year’s eve attracted a large attendance who all enjoyed the celebrations. We congratulate the award winners, the 1962 south under 21 hurling championship winning team and Jim Drohan (All-Ireland intermediate hurling championship winner). We also compliment the supporter’s club committee for their organisation of this event and for their help and support throughout 2008. We look forward to a mutually rewarding campaign in 2009.
Membership
Annual membership subscriptions for 2009 remain unchanged, adult €20, minor €10 and juvenile €5. We request that these be paid to any committee member as soon as possible. All players must have paid membership fee before they can participate in club activities and new club members are welcome at any time.
Books
Two books on the newsagent’s shelves at present make for good reading. The South Tipperary GAA centenary history is a fantastic recollection of Gaelic Games activities with many local teams figuring prominently throughout. The annual Tipperary GAA year book in also on sale now recalling all events of interest in 2008.

We remind those who wish to have items included in club notes that they should submit these to P.R.O. before 9pm on Sunday evening of each week.
Condolences
Carrick Swan club extends its sympathy to our juvenile secretary Terry Lonergan and the extended Foley family on the death of their aunt in England. We also extend our sympathy to the family of the late Anthony Shortiss, St Nicholas Park who died recently.
