WIT women beat their Cork counterparts in monsoon

WIT-Rugby

WIT 12; CIT 5

On Monday CIT travelled east for a College League game against Waterford IT at the Waterford City RFC grounds in Kilbarry. Conditions were hardly ideal as it started to rain heavily 30 minutes before kick-off and only got worse as the game progressed.

WIT started with a bang as they went under the sticks after two minutes with Katie Fitzhenry scoring a try after some great defence-sucking runs from Orla O’Neill and Vicky “Pockets” Power.

WIT looked a lot stronger in the backs as they made many more breaks over the next 10 minutes but conditions deteriorated and ball handling got increasingly difficult, with many knock-ons, resulting in a huge amount of scrums.
