Waterford United 1 Limerick 2
A depleted Waterford United team lost to Limerick at the RSC on Friday night last. The Blues had won the previous eight meetings between the clubs at the Kilbarry venue but the handicap of having to play without a number of key players proved too much for the home side.
The side showed three changes from the one which drew away to Mervue United in the previous match. David Breen replaced the suspended Kenny Browne in the heart of the defence. Paul Phelan came in on the left for Dwayne Wilson and Conor Sinnott came back as Seamus Long was also suspended. Willie John Kiely was ruled out due to injury, and Paul Murphy sat on the bench, but he was far from fit.
The Limerick boss Pat Scully had to plan without Joe Gamble, but another of his big name signings, Denis Behan did play and he scored their two goals.
