Gardaí have confirmed the discovery of the body of missing man Kieran Walsh, who was last seen in the city in the early hours of Friday morning.
The 21-year-old man, from Fethard in County Tipperary, was last observed walking from the city centre towards Plunkett Station at around 1.20am on Friday. It was thought at the time that he may have been heading towards the Grannagh area.
Over 100 volunteers joined Gardaí, Civil Defence and the Coast Guard services in a co-ordinated land and river search in the Mooncoin and South Kilkenny area at the weekend, after it emerged that Mr Walsh was seen on CCTV footage in the neighbourhood at around 5am on Friday.
A body was recovered in Ballybrazil, Mooncoin area on Sunday afternoon. Gardaí say they are not treating the death as suspicious and have expressed their thanks to members of the public for helping with their investigation.
