Johnville 3; Carrick United 5
Played seven, won seven: that’s the impressive record of Carrick United to date in the Premier League as they continue to set the pace at the top of the table.
The ‘Super Hoops’ are on fire this season and Johnville were the latest side to feel the brunt of their power in St Martin’s Park on Sunday last.
Who can possibly catch them? That is the question being asked by many football lovers currently. .
In fairness, a somewhat under strength Johnville side did their best but they were trailing 2-0 at half time. The home side made it 2-1 early in the second period but Carrick upped their game once again to make it 4-1 before eventually winning 5-3 with Ian Cleary (two) Alan Coady, Bobby Landers and Keith Walsh were the Carrick goalscorers.
Gavin McLawrence and Valdo Bulvas netted for the home side, with Gavin Phelan adding a third via a stoppage time penalty kick.
