Passage 2-11; De La Salle 0-13

In the attached section of the Junior Hurling Championship, Passage qualified for the Eastern Final with a two point over De La Salle after extra time in a game played at Ballygunner. It was an extra-time goal by substitute, Jimmy Barry that sealed victory for Passage. De La Salle led for long periods in this game and half way through the second half they held a seven point lead. However, driven on by half-time substitute Anthony Fitzgerald, Passage fought back to force extra-time. It was the scoring power of Niall Troy and Seamus Barry which propelled Passage to this victory.

Clonea 0-14; Roanmore 0-11

Passage will now meet Clonea in the Eastern final after they beat Roanmore also after extra time. Clonea led for most of the game but Roanmore rallied towards the end of the game and a point from substitute, James Grant forced extra time. It was in extra time that former underage star Billy Walsh came into his own and he fired over the points that led his side to the Eastern final. Willie O’Brien for Clonea was tremendous throughout and was very consistent from long-range frees.

For Roanmore, Noel Power was lethal from placed balls all afternoon while Paul Kearney was their best forward on the day.
