Ballyduff Lr 1-14; Stradbally 1-14
Ballyduff Lower gave themselves an excellent chance of reaching the County Senior Hurling quarter-finals with a point from their clash with Stradbally in Kill last Sunday evening.
The heavy rain on Saturday night and the following morning made conditions underfoot very tricky and as a result the game came down to a clash of the free-takers. Neither Stradbally’s Shane Ahearne nor Ballyduff’s Pat Fitzgerald were found wanting in that regard and both of them gave an exhibition from placed balls.
This was always going to be a tight match with most observers expecting a close game. What we got was a hard-fought encounter as both sides scrapped for their championship survival.
Stradbally were forced to field without several regulars due to injury. Star forward Ger Power is on the long term injury list following a suspected cruciate ligament injury sustained in the football league final last weekend.
