The month of January takes its name from the Roman God, Janus, the diety of the doorway or threshold. As such, it was appropriately positioned as the first month being the portal of the New Year. It is depicted as being two-faced, looking forward to the new as well as a backward glance to the old. So perhaps we could give a glance or two back before moving on. Here I have chosen a favourite piece from early in 2010 that I reckon is worth sharing again, indeed, if I may say so, I’m rather proud of penning. I was also prompted to this recollection by the broadcast last week on TG4 of a fine documentary on T.K Whitaker.
