Waterford Museum of Treasures has announced that two descendants of Field Marshall Lord Roberts of Kandahar and Waterford have donated an important collection of Roberts family memorabilia to the city archive.
Field Marshall Roberts was Commander in Chief of the British Army in the late 19th century. He served all over the world and was awarded the Victoria Cross. He was the only non-royal, other than Winston Churchill, to lie in state in Westminster Cathedral.
