The Workers’ Party has selected bus driver Joe Tobin as their candidate to contest the forthcoming general election in the Waterford Constituency.  Mr Tobin was selected at a convention held over the weekend at the Roanmore GAA Centre in Waterford City.

Mr Tobin came close to winning a seat on Waterford City Council in the last local elections on his first attempt, missing out by only 8 votes in the final count.

He was proposed for the nomination by Councillor Davy Walsh who said Mr Tobin would make an excellent representative for Waterford in Dáil Éireann and would give genuine representation to the working people of Waterford city and county as he had the commitment and drive to make a difference. Independent Councillor Dick Roche has endorsed his candidature and is fully committed to working in his campaign.
