Ballinroad B 1; Dunmore 0

I have no idea what is in the air in Ballinroad this summer, but what ever it is certainly working wonders for the young footballers of the beautiful area of Dungarvan, Co Waterford.
A few weeks back the Ballinroad Under 14 B side won the cup and in doing so clinched the double, and following this victory in sun-drenched Ozier Park on Saturday last they are now odds-on favourites to do exactly the same in the Under 13B section.
The Dunmore Seagulls side, under the guidance of former Blues player Aidan Swift, defeated Waterford Crystal in their semi-final, which was a big scalp, but nevertheless they went into this decider as underdogs because Ballinroad had defeated De La Salle and a number of other big names en route.
When Mikey Coleman scored in the second minute for Ballinroad a one-sided contest looked likely, but the Dunmore team displayed wonderful character to stick with their opponents all through and they never stopped fighting until the full-time whistle.
Ballinroad are the current leaders of the U13B League and it would appear only a matter of time before they also complete the magical double. Great days indeed for the Ballinroad club.
