The Eastern Finals of the Bórd na nÓg U-12 Hurling Championships took place in glorious sunshine at a well-attended Walsh Park last Saturday morning (June 12th) and photographers NOEL BROWNE was on hand to capture the atmosphere.
In the Division 1 Final Ballygunner beat a fancied De La Salle side by the narrowest of margins 1-6 to 1-5 in a game that was anyone’s right till referee Eoin Morrissey blew the final whistle.
The hard-fought Division 2 decider between Portlaw and Passage was won by Portlaw on a final scoreline of 2-3 to 1-3.
The Division 3 Eastern title went to Dunhill who beat a gallant Ballyduff side on a scoreline of 2-3 to 1-4. This was another great game of hurling from two evenly matched sides but it was Dunhill that came out on top in the end.
All credit to the Eastern Bórd na nÓg officials who ran the morning’s proceedings like clockwork and to the six teams who entertained the big crowds present with their great skill and commitment throughout.
