Villa went into this game in Connor’s Park on Saturday evening in good form having taken a point from the champions Carrick United the previous Wednesday, but they fell behind after only seven minutes and a shock looked on the cards. Dungarvan looked bright and fit and they did very well until they had a player sent off after just before the hour mark and from then on it all went wrong for them. Top man on the night for the Villa was Gavin O’Donoghue who was making his Premier League debut. The classy defender played under 16 football last season and he is without doubt a player with a very bright future indeed.
