Hair raising stuff as Raheny's Lauren Ellis heads narrowly wide

Tramore  0 Raheny  1

Tramore conceded their first goal in the FAI Intermediate Cup on Sunday in Graun Park, and unfortunately that goal was enough to knock them out of the competition. The Dubliners bossed the majority of the first half, but when Lynn-Marie Grant was brought on  for the second period she turned the game on its head but her promptings could not prevent defeat for the seasiders.Tramore had been impressive all season, beating clubs like Cobh Ramblers and Glebe North away from home, but by their own admission they did not really perform to their real ability in this contest.
Raheny opend up smartly and Lauren Ebbs picked out Leanne Walsh with a right wing corner kick after 6 minutes but her header went narrowly wide. Niamh Walsh then went close with a long range lob after 14 minutes. Ciara O’Brien had Tramore’s first effort on goal shortly afterwards but she was well wide from just outside the penalty area. What proved to be the only goal of the game was scored in the 24th minute. Centre half Leanne Walsh cracked in an effort from 20 yards which was spilled by the home goalkeeper Amy Martin and when the ball ran into the path of Lauren Ebbs she swept the ball to the net from 18 yards. Amy Martin did well shortly afterwards to cut out a dangerous left wing shot from Niamh Lawlor. The last action of the opening half saw Rachel Corcoran feeding Ciara O’Brien from the right but O Brien shot wide from a good position.
