Waterford GAA has elected Emer Barry of Lismore as its first ever female executive officer, succeeding Joe Cleary as Public Relations Officer.
Ms Barry comprehensively defeated County Board Cultural Officer Tomás ‘Rua’ Kiely (Ballinacourty) by 89 votes to 58 at last Thursday night’s Annual Convention held at Lawlors Hotel.
Ms Barry, recently elected as Assistant Secretary of the Western Board, has a wealth of PR experience, having worked alongside the previous three PROs via the County Communications and Publications Committee. She has also served as secretary and PRO of her native club in Lismore.
Meanwhile, Joe Cleary has replaced Michael Hogan as Treasurer, after Mr Hogan had served five and a half years in the position.
