Eoghan Dalton Reports
Portlaw / Ballyduff GAA has been formally cautioned after allegations that one of its supporters racially abused an underage hurler during a match. An investigation into the incident, which is alleged to have occurred at a County Bord na nÓg U15 match between De La Salle and Portlaw / Ballyduff last month, said that the adult female supporter entered the field of play and “used racially abusive and threatening language towards a De La Salle player/child”.

However, the review, conducted by Waterford’s juvenile GAA board, said the club could not have prevented the incident given its “reactionary nature”. The matter is set to continue as Croke Park will now conduct its own investigation into the incident.
