Mervue United 1; Waterford United 1

Waterford United have taken only one point from their last three league game after this disappointing result in Fahy’s Field on Friday night last. Following an away defeat to Shelbourne which was followed by a shocking home defeat against Wexford Youths, hopes were high that the Blues could get back to winning form against the team from Co Galway, but a disappointing performance yielded only a point. Perhaps the team found it hard to come down to earth following the showpiece match against Liverpool 48 hours earlier but whatever the reason, this was a below display by Waterford. Seamus Long, the player who scored against Liverpool turned from hero to villian in this game as he received his marching orders and his dismissal made the task in hand even harder for Paul O’Brien’s men.
