Strike action due to take place at Boots stores in the city and Tramore this Saturday has been deferred, trade union Mandate has confirmed.
Workers voted in favour of a strike earlier this month after the company sought pay cuts of up to 15%.
Boots workers were due to strike on Saturday but Mandate say the new date for industrial action is December 5, to facilitate the continuation of discussions in the Labour Relations Commission (LRC). Talks are due to reconvene this Friday.
In a statement, Mandate Assistant General Secretary, Gerry Light said the deferral was made in an effort to give the discussions every chance of a successful outcome.
Boots, which has 57 stories across Ireland, has up to 1,700 members of staff in Ireland. Some 900 of those are members of the Mandate union.
