Waterford City Council intends to tow away illegally parked vehicles off the streets from Monday next, February 28th. However, the vast majority of motorists need have no fear because, according to a Council spokesperson, the main target is a small number of repeat offenders who already owe the City Council thousands of euro in unpaid fines!
The offenders in question have ignored all requests by the Council to pay their fines and have also, according to the Council, frustrated all attempts to bring them to court for non-payment. In a number of cases, parking fines of more than €10,000 per motorist are outstanding and at least one person is said to owe in the region of €15,000.
About time the Council did this. Those repeat offenders are a disgrace.
what????? more money being spent that we can’t afford. where are the cut backs in public spending.
Well I hope the normal people don’t become a victim of this, a parking ticket is enough of a deterent and costs enough… We are not Dublin. But I would love to see the Gardai moving people parked on the quay, when you double park on the quay it is effectively blocking one lane and is dangerous and causing people to swerve.
