Singer Colm Wilkinson has always been a big favourite in Waterford ever since his performing days in Katie Reilly’s Kitchen and The Ardree Hotel. Appearing as a one-person cabaret act, he drew huge crowds with his individual style and excellent voice. In fact, many drummers and bass players from local groups used to regularly play with him for no fee such was his reputation.

Now a world star lauded on Broadway, the West End and all the other great theatre centres around the world, Colm played two sold-out shows in the Theatre Royal last week. The audiences were not disappointed as he performed for over two hours with a top-class band and two superb backing singers. Among the orchestra was Waterford musician Brendan Doyle who was described by Colm as ‘one of the best sax players in the world’.
