Waterford County Council received €861,720 in respect of the €200 charge on non-principal private residences in the county up to November 26, a meeting of the Council heard in Dungarvan this week.

Head of Finance Tom Gilligan said the money was received on the line-pay payment system and indicated that a total of 4,163 properties paid up to date. This compared to total properties of 4,283 for 2009. The amounts were gross total figures and did not include transaction costs and fees which had yet to be deducted, he said.

The figures included amounts collected on behalf of Dungarvan Town Council.

The total amount received nationally for 2010 up to November 26, 2010 was €63,441,446 and represented total properties registered of 310,832. Waterford County Council’s contribution was 1.34 per cent of the total figure.
