In just 30 minutes on Wednesday afternoon, 85 motorists failed to stop when the Clock Tower traffic lights – and the Road Traffic Act – clearly stated otherwise.
Conducted between 3.30 and 4pm, the latest Munster Express road traffic survey clearly revealed why reducing The Quay to two lanes appears looks entirely necessary.
The traffic light sequence at the Clock Tower, the busiest pedestrian crossing in the city, changed 34 times during the surveyed period, meaning 2.5 vehicles violated the Road Traffic Act during every sequence.
