Projected expenditure on roads in Waterford City this year is €26.193 million, up from €22.433 last year but almost identical to the 2006 figure.

Some €8.926m is to be raised locally with the balance of €17.267m coming from State grants.

NRA grants for national roads amount to €9.667m, Environment Department grants for non national roads total €7.3m, while City Council revenue allocation for road maintenance is €1.232m and its capital allocation for infrastructure improvements is €7.694m. There is also a €300,000 allocation from the Department of Transport for bus priority measures.

There will be €9m spent on the City Bypass this year. That incorporates non-contract payments on the overall scheme, final payments on the Western Link contract and some small contracts separate to the main construction contract.

There is an allocation of €300,000 for design of the city’s “green routes”, including the first phase of a Dunmore Road scheme.
