Kill 3-11; Butlerstown 1-6
Full-forward Ben Gallagher was the hero as Kill advanced to the Eastern Final of the Junior Hurling Proper with a facile victory over a disappointing Butlerstown in Fenor last Sunday. Gallagher finished with a personal tally of 1-6 in a ruthless performance from the mid county men. The other Kill goals were scored by county footballer Mick Ahearne and an exquisite goal near the end from Jamie Burns. Butlerstown were completely outclassed on the day, but a goal from Shane Kavanagh with ten minutes remaining briefly raised hopes of a comeback. The sending off of Hugh Kavanagh towards the end did not help and Kill ran out deserving winners in the end.
St Pauls 1-13; Fenor 1-11
Kill will meet surprise-packets St Pauls in the Eastern Final after the city side beat Fenor in an enthralling tie in Portlaw last Sunday. Pat Murphy scored the crucial goal for St Pauls on the day but they owed a debt of gratitude to goalkeeper Stephen Butler. Three times Butler saved what seemed like certain goals for Fenor which would have given them victory and a place in the Eastern Final. This was a great team performance throughout from St Pauls, with Wayne Murphy exceptional from placed balls.
