Frustration has been expressed by members of Waterford County Council at the delay in resolving the legal issues involved in the development of the walking way and cycle path on the old Waterford—Dungarvan Railway Line.
The Circuit Court hearing into the dispute over the excavation of deep trenches across the line at Kilmacthomas is expected to be heard by the Circuit Court before Christmas.
Cllr Tom Higgins (FG) wants the Council could start work on the Durrow stretch of the track without waiting for the outcome of the court case.
However, Director of Services, Denis McCarthy, said the Council had been guaranteed a court hearing date this year. It would be inappropriate to proceed with the development of the Dungarvan—Durrow stretch of the line until the legal issues were first resolved. The money for the project was still available and the Council would proceed immediately the issues were resolved.
