Just as the Summer Festivals were about to get into full swing Danny Grant suffered a nasty ankle injury at Naas which kept him on the sidelines for just over four weeks. He returned to race riding at Wexford on July 22nd, just in time for Galway, and was among the winners on the opening evening of the Festival when the Edmond Kent trained Lovers Peace won the galwaybayhotel.com handicap at 11/2. The pair were unlucky not to win a second festival race when on the final day Lovers Peace (sent off the 11/4 f) was just caught at the finish by the John Morrison trained Much Acclaimed in the galwayraces.com handicap.
