Bohemians 3; Hibernians 0

Bohemians recorded a good Premier League victory over Hibernians in Ben Wadding Park on Sunday. Bohs went into the game on a total of five points, two behind Hibernians, but with games in hand.

This was a massive match for both clubs but from an early stage it was clear to see that there would be only one winner. This game marked the return of John Hayes to Bohemians. John played for Waterford United for the past number of seasons but he decided to return to his roots.

Helping Brian O’Keeffe, the Hibs manager, was David Breen. David partnered John on a number of occasions last season for the Blues so it was interesting to see both of them in different camps on Saturday last. David is in talks with Galway United at the moment so a return to the LOI Premir League is on the cards for the popular defender.

Alan Quinlan gave Bohemians the lead after 27 minutes with a super volley from 20 yards. Kenny Purcell made it 2-0 after 40 minutes with a close-range header following a corner kick taken from the right by Gary Keane. Another Keane flag kick on 74 minutes was headed home by Kevin Whittle.

Bohemians are gearing up for their home game against Regional United in the FAI Junior Cup, and they will have taken a lot from this vital league win. This evening (Wednesday) they play Johnville in what is another massive game at the bottom of the table.
